In 2005, Kate The Great Russian Imperial Stout was first brewed at the Portsmouth Brewery and made history in the beer circles around the world, Kate was ranked No. 1 in the U.S. and No. 2 in the world by Beer Advocate Magazine in 2006 and the Portsmouth Brewery has had beer fans ever since.
Tod Mott left the Portsmouth Brewery in 2012 taking the recipe with him, so that was a sad day for beer lovers.
Well there is a new beer called Mott the Lesser brewed by Tod Mott who is the owner of Tributary Brewery Co. and lead brewer Jeff Goodno, this new beer was released on April 1 of this year and there were some 400 fans waiting at the door for Mott the Lesser. The beer is a rich, full-bodied, fudgy chocolate brownie-like elixir. Aged partially in an apple brandy barrel along with some port. 10.5% abv.
